Even if you have a plan that covers your plumbing system, the term 'plumbing system' can be broad, so it's essential to understand exactly what your plan includes. If you are purchasing a Repair + Replace Plan or Repair + Replace Premier Plan, some of the things you can expect to be covered are:

  • Drain and sewer stoppages
  • Garbage disposals
  • Instant hot/cold water dispensers
  • Jetted tub (built-in) motors, pumps and air switch assemblies
  • Permanently installed sump pumps
  • Plumbing valves, lines and other components
  • Standard and tankless water heaters
  • Toilets

Home plumbing warranties can cover many challenges with your internal plumbing system. However, there are some items that your plan may not cover, and you may need to turn to your homeowners insurance or manufacturer for help. Some of these include:

  • Stoppages caused by collapsed, damaged or broken drain or sewer lines outside the home's main foundation
  • Repair for lines broken, infiltrated or stopped by roots or foreign objects
  • Costs associated with locating inaccessible cleanouts, such as the fee for photo/video equipment
  • Bathtubs, sinks, showers, shower enclosures and base pans
  • Toilet lids and seats
  • Caulking or grouting
  • A water softener or water filtration/purification systems
  • Holding or storage tanks
  • Saunas or steam rooms (optional additional coverage may be available)

Knowing where your coverage begins and ends is essential to know where to turn when your plumbing system has an issue. Cinch Home Services plans can help fill the gaps in homeownership's everyday wear and tear.

Frequently asked questions

More questions about Cinch? Go to FAQ.

Does a home warranty cover plumbing?

Yes, all three of our plans cover plumbing. However, our Repair Only plan does NOT cover replacements. Both the Repair + Replace plans and Repair + Replace Premier plans cover both repair and replacements.

What does a Cinch Home Services plumbing warranty cover?

Warranty coverage is meant to help you deal with normal wear and tear effects on your plumbing systems. Some of the covered aspects are:

  • Interior water, sewer and gas lines
  • Drain and sewer stoppages
  • Garbage disposals
  • Instant hot/cold water dispenser
  • Jetted tub (built-in) motors, pumps and air switch assemblies
  • Permanently installed sump pump
  • Plumbing valves, lines and other components

Will Cinch Home Services replace my plumbing?

Typically, Cinch Home Services will not cover a complete replacement of your plumbing system. In most cases, your home warranty plan is limited to repairs and replacements of part of your plumbing system, not a complete replacement. Contact your homeowners insurance for help with a complete system replacement.

Does a Cinch Home Services warranty cover plumbing stoppages to the main line?

Usually, the answer here is yes! The main water line is covered for repair and replacement due to normal wear and tear. This is true except in exceptional circumstances, which you can check out in your plan documents.

Does a Cinch Home Services warranty cover water damage due to plumbing issues?

While a home warranty might cover the plumbing repairs causing water damage, it typically does not cover the water damage itself (like damage to floors, walls, or personal property); you'd rely on your homeowners insurance.

How do I place a service request?

At Cinch Home Services, you can report issues 24/7. We connect you with a service provider within just two hours of your service request if it's made during regular business hours and within 24 hours if it's outside business hours. Because plumbing issues are often severe enough to interrupt your family's daily life and the function of your home's appliances, we can expedite your request in an emergency.

Do home warranties cover plumbing for outdoor systems?

While standard home warranties typically cover interior plumbing systems, they often do not cover outdoor plumbing systems like sprinkler systems, faucets or sewer lines unless specifically added as an add-on or part of a premium plan like our Repair + Replace Premier Plan. Make sure you know the details of your plan.

  •
Do home warranties cover secondary damage from plumbing issues?

No, a plumbing home warranty typically does not cover secondary damage caused by a plumbing issue, such as water damage to flooring or walls, which is usually covered by homeowners insurance.

Do you need a home inspection for home warranty plumbing coverage?

No, you typically don't need a home inspection to get plumbing home warranty coverage; most home warranty companies don't require one before issuing a warranty.

Does a home warranty cover pipes with rust and corrosion?

In most cases, your home warranty plan will cover rust and corrosion. However, since pre-existing damage is not covered, it has to be new wear and tear over the course of your policy. For more details on what Cinch Home Services will cover, check out your plan documents.
