Home warranty vs. hvac system warranty

Manufacturer warranties usually cover defects for a limited time after purchase. Extended warranties may lengthen that protection but often still exclude labor, wear and tear or related components.

A home warranty offers broader protection. Instead of covering just your sump pump, it can include additional systems like plumbing, electrical, and other major appliances under one plan. When a covered item breaks down from normal wear and tear, you submit a claim and pay a service fee.

Cinch Home Warranty - Beautiful houses

Why getting a home warranty for your HVAC system is smart

Your HVAC system is the most expensive thing in your home to replace, and it almost always quits at the worst possible time — a heat wave in July or the first hard freeze of winter. When it fails, repair bills and emergency service rates add up quickly. A home warranty helps reduce surprise expenses by covering eligible repairs due to normal wear and tear.

Instead of purchasing a standalone HVAC service contract, you can protect multiple systems at once. Every Cinch plan includes heating and cooling with ductwork, along with electrical and plumbing systems, kitchen appliances and laundry appliances. With one service request and a deductible of $100–$150, you gain access to qualified technicians and coverage for parts and labor. It's a practical way to manage home repair costs while protecting the systems that help keep your home comfortable. Don't miss the chance to save money and avoid stress.

Covers all models — ongoing protection even after the manufacturer warranty ends

Even if your HVAC system is older or no longer covered by the manufacturer, a home warranty may still provide protection. Coverage is available regardless of age, make or model — from central air and heat pumps to mini-splits, package units and furnaces. That means fewer worries about an unexpected breakdown, and more confidence heading into the hottest and coldest weeks of the year. Why not give yourself some added peace of mind?

I am very happy with Cinch. Submitting a claim with Cinch was straightforward; they sent someone out quickly. The service was much faster compared to other home warranties I've previously used. Their quick and efficient service stands out. My granddaughter submitted the claim online, and they called me soon after to set up an appointment. The tech arrived the next day, which was very convenient.
I haven't had many claims, but the one experience I had was handled swiftly and met my expectations. I rate my experience with Cinch as fabulous. Their customer service is excellent, as are the services they provide.

Cinch takes care of the customer when there's a problem. The person they decide to use follows up and texts you every step. They have good customer service and always present themselves well. Whenever you have a question, they're always there to answer it. Recently, my water heater was leaking. It couldn't be fixed so it had to be replaced. If I know somebody's looking for a home warranty, I always tell them about Cinch Home Services. They're wonderful. You don't have to go out there and look for anyone to fix anything for you ‘cause they got your back.

My experience when submitting a claim was very seamless and effortless. The tech who came knew what the issue was with the heater immediately and he ordered the fan motor. They had it the next morning and he came and put it in the next morning. It was during the winter when I didn't have heat because of it and they were really fast and on the ball.

Frequently asked questions

Still have questions?

Let us know how we can help.

Does a home warranty cover older appliances?

Many home warranty plans cover items regardless of age, make or model, provided they are in working condition at the start of coverage and properly maintained. However, it is important to ask questions and read the fine print before agreeing to a home warranty plan. Choosing a reputable company like Cinch Home Services will help.

What's not covered?

Coverage typically excludes pre-existing conditions, improper installation, code violations, or damage caused by flooding or lack of maintenance. It’s always wise to take some time to review sample contracts for detailed exclusions. If you’re not sure about something, ask questions as opposed to assuming. This will save you frustration and potentially money too.

How much is the service fee?

With a home warranty, you pay a set service fee each time you request service for a covered item. The exact fee depends on the plan you choose and is clearly outlined during enrollment. This fee covers the technician’s visit to diagnose the issue and perform the covered repair. After that, the warranty helps cover eligible parts and labor, helping you avoid larger, unexpected repair bills.

How fast are repairs completed?

Once you submit a claim — online or by phone, 24/7 — a service professional is dispatched to diagnose the problem. Response times can vary depending on technician availability, your location and whether replacement parts are needed. In many cases, a contractor will contact you within a short period to schedule an appointment. Emergency situations may receive priority scheduling to help prevent further damage to your home.

Can I add coverage later?

In many cases, optional add-on coverage may be available either during enrollment or at renewal, depending on your plan and provider guidelines. If you decide you want additional protection for specific systems or appliances after signing up, you can review your available options and adjust your coverage accordingly. It’s best to confirm details during signup so you understand eligibility requirements and any waiting periods that may apply.

Is a home warranty the same as an HVAC warranty?

No, it’s not the same. An HVAC warranty typically applies only to that specific unit and often covers manufacturer defects. A home warranty is a service contract that can cover your HVAC system and other major systems and appliances due to normal wear and tear. The home warranty gives you more protection.
